HEIC and PDF: what changes
Turning HEIC files into a PDF is the usual way to hand in photos and scans as a document: one file, pages in order, opens anywhere.
HEIC High Efficiency Image (Apple photos)
HEIC is the format iPhones and iPads use for camera photos. It takes about half the space of a JPG, but many Windows PCs, websites and older devices cannot open it.
PDF Portable Document Format
PDF is the standard for documents that must look the same everywhere. It can hold many pages in one file and is what offices, schools and public services usually ask for.
Good to know before you convert
- Each HEIC image becomes one page. Add several images and they are combined into a single PDF in the order shown.
- The HEIC image is stored in the PDF without visible loss of quality.
